Bowling tournament

On a Wednesday evening on the 9th of March, the bowling tournament started at 18:30. One hour of bowling for the ultimate price.

We arrived at a quarter past six at the bowling alley. Some people were already enjoying themselves at the bar, with their regular shoes already exchanged for some flashing blue and red bowling shoes.

Because the table was a bit hidden and packed, we started sitting at the fireplace near the entrance so everyone walking in could see us.

I got more drinks for me and some friends and the people started to come in and join us. However, after some time I was also longing for some flashing bowling shoes, so I got them at the counter. I doubted the size but went for a smaller size than my regular shoes.

Now with a fresh pair of bowling shoes and a drink, I was ready to start bowling!

But I was too fast the people were still playing on the bowling lane. Looking at who was playing, we saw some Avans teachers play so we had a quick talk when it was our time to play.

Finally, we divided ourselves over the bowling lanes on the bowling lane. There were 4 lanes that all Essence members played on with six people per lane. But all lanes were filled.

So everyone filled in their names on the screen and some even added pictures to their name that appeared on the screen. This was super funny since some made weird faces in the photos.

Now we started playing and this was so much fun. Some even tried different tricks to hit the most pins. One even tried the dinosaur slide for the bowling ball, which made it really fun.

The tournament went on for some time and we all had great fun with it. Petko who was playing the lane next to me, got a lot of points and I thought he would win for a minute. But then I realized I wasn't doing so badly either and could win.

I was really trying to get all of the pins only Petko got two strikes at his last throw. Now the pressure was on at my last throw and I needed to get a strike to win. I focussed on the ball and looked at the pins. There was only one goal and just one thing I needed to do, to get a strike. I thought of the ball and how it should roll to the end of the lane. I rolled it and it moved in this perfect line straight to the pins. I did it a strike!!!!

Now that I had won over Petko I thought I had won the game, but I looked too much at the lanes on the right side and did not realise Stijn standing at the other side was so close to my score. He only needed to do one more through to gain more points than me. The excitement was over very soon when I noticed this.

But there he stood, the ball in one hand no drop of sweat on his face. He didn't doubt it for a second and he threw the ball. This made me super nervous, but I knew I was not going to win this game in the back of my had. But there it was the ball hit most of the pins making him the winner of this tournament.

At the end of the game, we announced the winner which was:

1. Stijn 🥇

2. Femke 🥈

3. Petko 🥉

Whereby the first place which was Stijn received a price. This was a free movie ticket by choice. Stijn was super happy with his price and I think he deserved it since it was a fair game and he defeated me somewhat.

After the bowling most of us went out for a drink where we had a good conversation about all our bowling techies.
